Middletown, CT's Sustainable Transportation Advocacy Group

May 21, 2008:

7:00 pm at Union Park (South Green).

Come and meet fellow Middletown cyclists for a silent slow-paced ride (max. 12 mph/20 kph) in honor of those who have been injured or killed while cycling on public roadways.  The Ride of Silence is a national organization Transportation Alternatives Middletown is partnering with to:

  • HONOR those who have been injured or killed
  • RAISE AWARENESS that we are here
  • ask that we all SHARE THE ROAD

The Ride Of Silence is a free ride that asks its cyclists to ride no faster than 12 mph and remain silent during the ride. There is no brochure, no t-shirt, and there are no sponsors or no registration fees. The ride, which is held during Bike Safety month, aims to raise the awareness of motorists, police and city officials that cyclists have a legal right to the public roadways. The ride is also a chance to show respect for those who have been killed or injured.

During this ride, all traffic laws will be obeyed.

May 16, 2007:

  • This year we had a fantastic initial turnout of 11 riders in a light rain/drizzle.  We rode down to the Connecticut River and along it towards CVH, where we doubled back along River Road, back to Union Park (South Green).  We hope to see you join us next year.
